The Sunwing Method

Cody Walsh, Headmaster at Sunwing:

If somebody had told me at the beginning how difficult it would be for me to build and run my own recording studio, I probably would have given up then and there.

It was hard. I spent years reading forums and trying to collect information, missing out on hours of sleep racking my brain over this stuff. Was I on the right track? With a limited budget, it became quite a fearful experience to purchase a piece of equipment that could set me back months if it didn’t end up working with the rest of my setup.

There was no plan.

But I wanted one.

So I started searching. Asking around. I was told to find a mentor and push on. But to what? I knew what I wanted; a studio where I could musically be myself. But I didn’t know how to get there.

And now, sitting in this studio, that time feels like a distant reality.

But it was my reality. I found all kinds of information during those endless hours of searching. I was taking courses on mixing and tracking. Collecting all I thought I needed to start a home studio. Getting advice from all sorts of forums.

And it wasn’t as if the information was all bad. Some of it was really quite good. The problem wasn’t that it was out in left field. The problem was that I still couldn’t see the whole field. Nobody could show me how all the pieces fit together. What good was a mixing course to me if I couldn’t get myself together enough to stop rearranging my studio, let alone track anything in the first place?

You’re Not Alone.

It’s not your fault. You cannot expect a surgeon to save a life if he isn’t given the tools and methods to do it.

After nearly a half-decade, I made a change.

I decided that if I could not find what I was looking for, I would create it myself, no matter what the cost.

That’s when my life was transformed, and my musical dreams began coming to life. I spent another year searching for answers, but this time, I kept track, and collectively gathered the experiences of hundreds of recordists (including myself) to develop a mentor for myself.

I emerged a year later with a process of recording, a universal workflow, that I could use to achieve my dreams of musical expression. Today, I am filled with the euphoric feeling of walking into my studio every day and knowing exactly what I want to do, how to do it, what all of my creative options are, and how I can change somebody’s life for the better with my work, all with a clarity of mind that surprises me more and more each day.

I have mastered the inner game, and my anxiety has been replaced with confidence.

And I would like to show you how a guiding hand like this can transform your life forever.
