“Sunwing was born out of frustration.”
Brian Zircon: Founder/Producer
The artist. Founder of both Sunwing Studios and ZLI. Zircon envisioned Sunwing as a haven of creative power, the brainchild of his artistic vision. As wide-ranging as his needs were, Sunwing was crafted to easily realize difficult creative projects. It was decided that the resulting wisdom and facilities be shared with the public. Zircon occasionally assists clients as producer, and still actively uses the facility.
Owen Ellis: Head Engineer
A former student of Zircon's, Ellis worked his way from equipment assistant to head engineer. A gifted musician, technician, and designer, Ellis brings his musical talents to the Zircon-affiliated group the Analogue Dream, jazz ensembles, and everything in between. This perspective aids him in fulfilling the needs of clients across genre.
The Impossible Studio.
People can use all forms of inflated marketing to describe what they do. Thoughtless quips about “timeless”, “quality”, or, at worst, the “best”.
Sunwing operates on another level entirely.
Studios come about for a variety of reasons. Some arise out of private collections; others originate from groups of well-intentioned investors.
But Sunwing was born out of frustration.
As time progresses, the tools of studio creation become more inaccessible, replaced with digital equivalents designed to satiate our physical urges. And the originals? Deposited behind glass cases, never to sound another note.
What happens if you take all the legendary equipment out from behind the glass, and aim them at each other?
That’s what we sought to do at Sunwing.
We found examples of the most emotionally vivacious gear we could find, and pulled equipment from the ends of the earth together under one system to create an arsenal of creative possibility for all to access.
The Sunwing Story
We are here for one reason only: To improve quality of life through transformative creative experience.
Every element of life is colored by the joy of music. The suffering we endure on a regular basis is most fully abated when we understand ourselves and learn how to express our inner feelings.
Music is the art which paints colors across time, and allows people to reach altered states that tap them directly to their Higher Self.
If you can understand who you truly are, you will follow this truth with action, and improve your life by taking the power belonging only to you.
This is only one of many gifts of Music, which is why we chose it as our dominant medium.
The transformative nature of Music, and its ability to awaken Inner Purpose, is clearly demonstrated in the story that lead to Sunwing Studios.
1995-2008: Discovery
Throughout the misfit, outcast life of Cody Walsh, he always returned to one catharsis: creativity, in its many forms. While Walsh benefitted from this catharsis to such a high degree that he overcame his personal struggles, he had not forgotten the artistic power that drove him out of ruin, and so reached stability with a burning desire to give all who suffered a taste of the same elixir.
2008-2020: Growth
The barriers to joy, however, came frequently.
Each time a song washed over him with goosebumps, Walsh had to know exactly how the emotion was created—what was the recipe of the elixir?
Gradually, Walsh’s own mission to dance with the Mistress of Music became a selfless one, as the anger subsided due to an impossible reality—all of the incredibly rare pieces of the puzzle, which were never thought to be brought together, were suddenly sitting in the same facility, waiting to be mixed.
Every recipe was followed. All ingredients tracked down. Dusted. Beaten. Pulled and pushed back into their highest glory.
Every elixir could be made.
And their combined effects were powerful. Drinking all elixirs transformed Cody Walsh into Brian Zircon—an amalgamation of all influences, dripping in golden energy with a message for the future.
So where does that leave the Studio? Shouldn’t others be allowed to taste of the joy?
2020-Beyond: Awakening
The turmoil that consumed 2020 made the now-populous collective that ran Sunwing painfully aware of their need - not only the need felt for them within the local community, or even the music industry—but the world in general.
While many studios, large and small, exist in this world, not all are truly aware of their job as Agents of Light—and at Sunwing, we feel like this glossy inner connection actually does help us (and you) make better music.
Out of this necessity, the decision was made to open our doors—first digitally, due to our quarantined confines, and then physically, for the benefit of Client presence and experience.
And, while we do perform in-person sessions a la traditional recording studio, our hearts will always be closest to our roles as empowered educators of studio principles—to bring fish to market through our Artist recordings, and to teach others how to catch fish right alongside us through our Client trainings.
In this way, we hope to guide you along your own path within.
Enjoy the power you discover—it all comes from inside you.
